What do I do when I receive a Work Authorization Documents Expiring case alert for an employee whose Form I-766, Employment Authorization Document (EAD), was automatically extended? Can I reverify this employee in E-Verify?

E-Verify automated the verification process for employees whose EAD was automatically extended. If your employee’s EAD has been automatically extended, you will receive a Work Authorization Documents Expiring case alert when the auto-extension period for this EAD is about to expire. The alert indicates the date that you must reverify their employment authorization in Section 3 of Form I-9.

You must not use E-Verify to reverify existing employees. For information about reverification, completing or updating Form I-9 see the Handbook for Employers: Guidance for Completing Form I-9 (M-274) or I-9 Central.
