The designation of South Sudan for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is set to expire on May 3, 2025. The Secretary of Homeland Security did not make a determination as to whether South Sudan continues to meet the conditions for designation for TPS by March 4, 2025, the statutory deadline. Accordingly, the TPS designation for South Sudan is automatically extended for 6 months, from May 4, 2025, through Nov. 3, 2025. Given the time frames for processing pending TPS applications, USCIS has automatically extended the validity of certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) with a Category Code of A12 or C19 and a Card Expires date of May 3, 2025, or Nov. 3, 2023, issued under the TPS designation for South Sudan through Nov. 3, 2025.
