The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Sudan for an additional 18 months, from May 3, 2016, through November 2, 2017. The 18-month extension also allows TPS re-registrants to apply for a new Employment Authorization Document (EAD) in accordance with the notice published in the Federal Register. DHS has also automatically extended the validity of EADs issued under the TPS designation of Sudan for an additional six months, through November 2, 2016.
Further details on this extension of Sudan for TPS may be found in the Federal Register notice. Additional information on TPS for Sudan—including guidance on eligibility, the application process and where to file—is available at www.uscis.gov/tps. Employers verifying or reverifying the employment eligibility of employees who are TPS beneficiaries from Sudan should refer to the Temporary Protected Status page on I-9 Central.
