News Item Date:

The secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended and redesignated the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Syria for 18 months from Oct. 1, 2016, through March 31, 2018. The extension allows current TPS beneficiaries of Syria to re-register for TPS. DHS has also automatically extended the validity of Employment Authorization Documents issued under the TPS designation of Syria for six months, through March 31, 2017. The redesignation allows individuals who currently do not have TPS to submit an initial application, in accordance with the Federal Register notice.
