Update:Compliance with District Court Order Regarding Designation of TPS Haiti | News Item
On July 1, 2025, DHS terminated the designation of Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Haiti’s TPS designation and related benefits were slated to terminate on Sept. 2, 2025. However, on July 15, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York issued a final judgement in Haitian Evangelical Clergy Ass’n v. Trump, No. 25-cv-1464, that that makes the effective date of any termination no earlier than Feb.

The designation of South Sudan for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is set to expire on May 3, 2025. The Secretary of Homeland Security did not make a determination as to whether South Sudan continues to meet the conditions for designation for TPS by March 4, 2025, the statutory deadline. Accordingly, the TPS designation for South Sudan is automatically extended for 6 months, from May 4, 2025, through Nov.
