A memorandum on DED was issued on Jan. 15, 2025, deferring through Feb. 5, 2027, the removal of certain eligible Hong Kong residents who were present in the United States as of Jan. 15, 2025. Eligible Hong Kong residents are employment authorized incident to DED.
Minor Changes to Form I-9 and E-Verify Updates | News Item
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has made minor changes to Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to align with statutory language, and updated the DHS Privacy Notice. The revised Form I-9 with an edition date 01/20/25 and an expiration date 05/31/2027 is now available for download, while multiple previous editions remain valid until their respective expiration dates:

Based on the June 28, 2024, presidential memo, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is implementing employment authorization through June 30, 2026, for Liberians (and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Liberia) who were already covered under Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for Liberia under the president’s 2022 memorandum.

USCIS Extends Form I-9 Expiration Date | News Item
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services updated the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification to extend the expiration date to 05/31/2027.
Employers must use the Form I-9 with the edition date of 08/1/23, which may have an expiration date of either 07/31/2026 or 05/31/2027. Either form may be used until its respective expiration date. Downloads available on the Form I-9 download page will only include the new 05/31/2027 expiration date.
